Don Erikstrup is a retired Computer Systems Engineer. Mostly doing system maintenance (installing, updating the OS) of various computer systems (IBM, Honeywell, DEC, Sun), with various flavors of operating systems of course. He has also done a fair amount of programming using various languages (FORTRAN, COBOL, C++, Java, and others). He recently got into doing web pages, was the RCGRS web site manager for a while and created the 2019 NGRC web site for that convention, and is currently the web site manager for his college fraternity (the alumni mostly from years ago).
Retirement has allowed him to settle in one location, so he can now indulge in his interest in model railroading. He had an HO set some years ago, but that has gone away, with only some specialized cars left as show pieces. But he has an active N scale railroad in his basement, and has laid out a G scale in his yard. Unfortunately, other projects for the house (like new garage/tool shop extension, deck awning and house painting, fence repairs, new cement for the patio, and now an upcoming solar panel roof installation) have forced him to dismantle the layout. But it did work at one time.
He is active in the RCGRS, having set up the Track Committee, and now Chair of the Model Railroading Technology SIG. New activities still on the horizon.
