Talk:Upgrading a Web based DCC control station

Some article development notes from DErik. Just suggestions.
- In first line that links to Geoff's page, mention that Dr. Geoff Bunza spoke about the throttle at the meeting. EX: "A the April RCGRS MRT SIG meeting, Dr. Geoff Bunza talked about a steam locomotive throttle he and others have developed. It requires actual input from the operator to run the locomotive. It is packaged in a clever 3D enclosure with levers for the Johnson bar, speed control, and braking, and a lot of other controls needed for a real steam locomotive." Then when you mention Geoff Bunza in the next section, folks will relate to him.
- Not sure folks will understand the first sentence of the "Project Reception". Or why you titled it that way. For example: What is "track delivery"? I think you mean that power and control is delivered to the locomotive via the track. But that isn't true here, because only power is applied to the track. Control is over WiFi.
- Rather than just saying "Problem is ...." you might say that "The electronics for the control are currently designed for HO-scale modeling, which uses less than 3 amps of power. This presents a problem for G-scale modeling, which uses a minimum of 3 amps."
- Include a footnote reference on the H-Bridge. I doubt many people know what that is (sure didn't, and I'm fairly knowledgeable about electronics [of the past, of course].
- And explain or reference and explantion on "Gate Capacitance" as well. I know about that, and you touch on it, but a reference to a more in-depth explanation would be appreciated by a lot of folks.
- I like the ref to the BTN device. But how about wrapping all that URL in a reference like this:
BTN8982TA<ref>[https://www.infineon.com/cms/en/product/power/motor-control-ics/brushed-dc-motor-control-ics/single-half-bridge-ics/btn8982ta/ BTN8982TA details]</ref>
so it doesn't clutter the text. And then it will appear like this: BTN8982TA[1] in the text, and in a popup when the mouse moves over it, and at the end of your article like this
(you will include a "References" section, right?). Same technique could be used for the other references as well.
- I got a little bit lost in the next two sections. A bit more elaboration would be nice. Like:
- What's the relationship of the BTN8982TA and the TI micro-controller and the 900MHz receiver?
- What does the circuit diagram really apply to: a) The TI controller or b) the Airwire receiver or c) something else?
- What does the D17 code do?
- Output of DCC - that's the "code" or "signal". Not the power. Power levels and the DCC are really independent of each other, although they are both present in the circuit. Right? So putting them in the same sentence confuses me.
- Doesn't "IS" imply "input sensor" rather than "Current Sense out"?
OK, enough for now. I hope this helps. I know I'm not at your level of expertise with any of this. But be aware, a lot of the folks that are going to go to this wiki won't be that knowledgeable either. They will want to learn things. Which is why I created this SIG - I want to learn.

Thanks for the suggestions. Much rework done.
